About your Coach

Cherry O'Neill is a Certified Transformational Life Coach, uniquely qualified by her life experiences, as well as her studies of psychology and coaching. She has raised five children while writing and speaking about her own personal struggle with eating disorders which spanned over a decade in her teens and twenties. Her first person account, entitled Starving for Attention, was a New York Times Best Seller in the early 80's. Since then, she has worked as a volunteer with the Easter Seals Society, co-hosting their annual local telethon for 15 years, with local schools serving as a liaison for students with Special Needs at Elementary, Secondary and District levels, serving on her District's Alcohol, Tobacco and Other Drugs Committee, and as a Core Team Member of her church's Youth Ministry for nearly ten years.

In 2001, Cherry created a program that involved two school districts, uniting the collaboration of 15 different PTSA Units, Administrators, Teachers and Counselors, students and parents, and receiving funding from all involved, as well as a community grant. The program brought a Pulitzer Prize winning author to her community to deliver a presentation called "What Works: Stories from the Front Lines Of Parenting" and brought Cherry the state's most prestigious PTSA award.

Cherry co-developed and has facilitated a Parent Networking Group for the last 15 years, supporting and helping parents understand some of the challenges of raising teens and pre-teens in today's world, and created a program that she ran for 7 years at the local Junior High School to educate students about the consequences of substance use/abuse. The program, called DATA Week (Drugs, Alcohol and Tobacco Awareness Week) was well received by students, teachers and parents alike and has been adopted by several other local junior high and middle schools. Most recently, Cherry has participated in courses of study ranging from subjects such as Living Your Strengths, Leadership Training, Communication, Addictions Workshops, Purposeful Living, and Resource Realizations' Quantum Coaching Academy.

Cherry has been married for 37 years to husband, Dan O'Neill, founder of the international relief and development organization, Mercy Corps, and has been mother to Brittany, 30, Brendan, 28, Casey, 25, Kevyn, 22 and Kylie, 19. She is currently using her own experience as a daughter, sister, wife, author, speaker, performer, mother, eating disorder survivor, community leader and youth advocate to inform her coaching, while assisting others to access new possibilities and perspectives and creating strategies for moving forward with their own lives. Her most rewarding moments are when she is helping others discover their passions and achieve their potential.
